| Last year, the City of Jacksonville, Florida organized a “Day of Faith”rally in response to a murdered child and rising crime rate. A group of atheists sued. The city agreed to pay the atheists $5,000.00 and never hold a religious event again. Despite the settlement, the mayor said the rally was “time well spent and money well spent.” A religious event sponsored by the government violates the first amendment requirement that government remain neutral toward religion. |
