| Dennis Ross relocated to Atlanta from Los Angeles to work as musical director for a church. Soon thereafter, the head pastor told him, “This is a white church. (African American gospel singer) Shirley Caesar music won't work here.Your kind of music is causing white flight.” Ross was fired. He sued for racial discrimination and lost. The court refused to inquire into what it decided was a pastoral decision. To do so would violate the establishment clause fo the first amendment. |
