Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas is accused of violating free speech during a city council public comment period. A citizen referred to the mayor’s public promotional appearances with show girls as “Mayor Goodman and his bimbo babes.” The mayor announced that criticism of the mayor is permitted but commentary about his girls is not. Mayor Goodman then shut off the microphone. Language offensive to a mayor is nevertheless entitled to first amendment protection.
