A Pennsylvania judge ordered a divorced Mormon father not to teach his daughter about polygamy. The father appealed to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Result: the state’s interest in preventing the crime of polygamy does not outweigh the father’s right to free exercise of religion. Further, the state’s interest in protecting children does not outweigh the father’s right to teach his beliefs to his daughter unless there is a danger of physical or psychological harm.
