In Texas, a neglected courthouse monument to a deceased judge was refurbished after a living judge premised his political campaign on putting Christianity back in government. The monument had always depicted a bible to indicate the deceased judge had been a Christian. Revisions of the monument included a red neon light surrounding the bible. The rededication ceremony featured Christian ministers leading prayers. The blatant religious purposes violated the first amendment prohibition on government establishment of religion.
