| The California Supreme court refused to hear the appeal of a Lutheran high school accused of violating state anti-discrimination law. It expelled two girls because of their alleged lesbian relationship. The law prohibits businesses from discriminating on the basis of a person's actual or perceived sexuality. The high school argued the girls’ actions were “contrary to Christian decency” and the expulsion was, therefore, protected by the free exercise and associational rights of the first amendment. The case will now proceed to trial. |
