A Vermont man sued a sheriff for violating his first amendment rights. Unhappy about the outcome of a lawsuit, he parked his truck outside the courthouse and with a sign calling the judge "Butcher of the Constitution". The sheriff obtained an injunction barring him from all Vermont courthouse property. A jury found malice and awarded $50,000 in damages.
